I can’t believe that we’re already at the last weekly review of the month. Time really is flying now and I’m confident that we’re all very much looking forward to an early Spring and Summer! So, after a busy last week, it’s time to recap the posts that went live on DGB this week.

Summary

The beginning of the week started with a question: why is hardware still pitting? It was a post based around the conversation on social media over the previous few days about the state of hardware in the UK market and the problems some installers have been having recently. I got the impression that there was a growing sentiment that maybe it was time to look beyond UK shores for a better solution. Either way, companies are getting increasingly frustrated!

Summary

Tuesday’s post followed on from Monday’s post, and was built around comments and opinion from the previous post. I wanted to explore the idea of using companies on the continent, namely Germany and Austria, as a possible alternative to our UK options. As is mentioned in the post, German hardware is built to a much better quality and standard, with pitting never really an issue for those guys. So if we’re sick of pitting hardware, it’s time to put our hands in our pockets and pay a few quid more!

Summary

Wednesday’s post was again a post inspired by the previous one. I took aim on Wednesday at the cheap and cheerful end of the market. It’s a constant frustration of mine, probably because I have always sold products from the higher end of the market. But the point of that post was to try and highlight the long term benefits for everyone, even the trade boys, that better quality products and service brings. I suspect some disagreed with me.

Summary

Thursday, and I wanted to take another look at WarmCore, the new aluminium/PVC product from Synseal. I was inspired to write about it again after seeing they had launched a new website for the product. This time I wanted to explore the idea of WarmCore being the product to push bi-folds to the next evolutionary level. On paper they appear that they might. In the flesh? I’m still to see it myself!

Summary

Technology time! Sesame was another smart door lock that caught my eye one evening. Except this one came with a lower price point, more technological options and according to the company, can be used on any lock worldwide. So naturally this was something I wanted to report on! In reality there is still many hurdles for the product to get passed until it breaks through properly, but I think this particular product takes us one step further.

Summary

I wanted to end the week on a more positive note, so I decided to take a look at some of the products, away from our bread and butter stuff, that could make our installers plenty of money in the coming years. This was basically a post to display the products I thought would make useful new products to include in existing portfolios and hopefully create new revenue streams.
