I know February is always the shortest month, but it really does feel like it has flown by. And for good reason. After a very poor start to the year, the industry appears to be going up the gears as we head towards the Spring. So lets take a look back at February and see what possible hints there are going into March.
Sales patchy
January was poor, most will admit that. I’d take with a pinch of salt what anyone says to the contrary. But February did show signs that the industry was stepping up a gear. It’s worth remembering that this is the normal seasonal trend. The past few Januaries we have been spoiled by busier-than-usual periods. I think we may have mistakenly got used to that. It’s back to reality now though and I suspect that as we get further into the year, business will continue to grow.
It’s not all full steam ahead though. Check out this tweet:
@bigwindowfitter @glazingblogger personally about 50% compared to this time last year. Everyone I’ve spoke to say “pretty quiet”

Business certainly isn’t booming for everyone. It’s patchy at best, with pockets doing well, other pockets not so well. I am happy to say that at our place we’re back on track targets wise. We’re not ahead of them like we were last year, but we’re where we want to be.
Industry activity
As it’s still the start of the year, industry activity remains on the low side. However, as we near March, we have the start of Ecobuild. A construction themed exhibition which some are now debating about how long it actually has left. No FITShow this year, but there is the National Fenestration Awards winners event coming up on March 26th to celebrate last year’s winners. It’s set to be a great day, with an after party that absolutely everyone is invited to! Click here to read about it.
DGB
One the DoubleGlazingBlogger front, February saw very much a similar pattern to last year. After a strong January, of which there always is, February is definitely the come down month as there are three less days in the year, which always makes beating January’s figures even more difficult. But, as you can see by the figures below, they were still good.
Page views were up on February 2014 which is a great sign. But visitors and unique visitors were around the same. Something I expected for this time of year. Things look good for March though, and I anticipate beating last March’s figures by some way.

we at Sternfenster certainly have not seen a drop or even a slow down .Invoiced sales in January up over 40 % and February invoiced sales up 43%. However the usual products ie standard upvc are not up as much, but the high end windows such as our Graf weld window with mechanical mullions and transoms are going down very well with existing and new customers .Even our trade depots are over achieving targets by focusing on the correct client .The market has certainly changed but there is certainly business available .
