Earlier this week DGB reached an important milestone. When a blog gets to nearly 8 years old, the milestones start coming thick and fast. But there are still one or two major milestones that are worth a mention or two.

And at the start of this week, DGB reached perhaps one of it’s biggest. After nearly 8 years and steady year-on-year growth, DGB finally reached one million pages views!

As far as milestones go, this is probably the one that excites me the most. For a little old blog about windows, the fact that it’s lasted so long and reached seven figures in the page views column is a little hard to believe.

So, here’s some funky graphics to illustrate the achievement.

I want to say thanks to every single person has read DGB even is only once since it begun in 2009. The idea of trying to reach a million page views back then wasn’t even a passing thought. But this site has grown into something far bigger than I ever thought it would.

There will be future milestones to celebrate over time. But for me, this is the first really big one. A million page views is amazing to be able to say out loud.

Future targets

I mentioned at the start of this year that I would like to grow DGB to be able to achieve a million page views in a single year. This is a big ask I know. It’s going to involve having to reach even more parts of the industry, perhaps not just in the UK but around the world. I also need to reach out more to the consumer. There’s quite a few home owners that stumble on DGB online and I need to make the most of that. My revamping of DGB Consumer will help with that.

But my most immediate target is to get my next million page views a bit quicker. I have plans in place for this. I plan to be very proactive across all existing and new platforms. Site traffic even in the past few weeks has been stronger than it has been for months. The things I am doing now are paying dividends, and the road ahead for 2017 should see yet another record year across all the major site traffic metrics for DGB.

The future looks very strong and bright for this website, I don’t mind saying that. I do put a lot of hard work in to this, I wouldn’t bother if I didn’t enjoy it. I want to grow DGB to become the premier online publication for the UK glazing industry. I have a very clear goal, and some very clear methods in which to get the job done.

Here’s to the next million!
