I am happy to announce a DGB exclusive, that Anglo European and Joe Martoccia have acquired Corby-based Aluminium Shapes Ltd in what is set to be an exciting acquisition in the world of aluminium in fenestration.

This is the official press release:

Anglo European Group and Joe Martoccia have lead a consortium in forming Aluminium Developments Group Ltd and acquiring Corby-based aluminium extrusion and component manufacturing business, Aluminium Shapes Limited.

Employing over 60 people, Aluminium Shapes serves a wide range of industries and offers its customers a complete end-to-end service, from design and prototyping right through to component production.

Leading the acquisition, Joe Martoccia has been appointed Group CEO and will be based at Aluminium Shapes’ head office and production facility in Corby, Joe comments: “Investment from Anglo European Group, existing shareholders and the management team, together with funding from AIB (GB) delivers a well structured, robust platform for growth in what is an exciting and dynamic sector.  Collaboration with Anglo European in the fenestration and road transport markets will provide additional opportunities for growth, building on what is an already diverse customer base.

“This is an amazing business with a successful history and strong pedigree. From the moment I set foot in place, I was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm, support and expertise of the team. There is a genuine “can do” attitude which underpins the company’s superb customer service and quality ethos.  Aluminium Shapes is a solid company, with the additional investment and combined expertise of the management team we can significantly accelerate the growth of the business.”

Interview with Joe Martoccia

I will be featuring an interview with one of the heads of the consortium, Joe Martoccia, formerly of Ultraframe and Solidor, very soon on DGB. In the interview I will be asking him, among other things, what his plans are for the future of the business, as well as what plans the group has to increase the exposure Aluminium Shapes will have in fenestration.

As far as my initial thoughts go, this acquisition is yet another testament to the allure of aluminium in fenestration. There is a very obvious potential that continues to grow in aluminium, and this acquisition by Anglo European and Joe Martoccia is a clear demonstration of that optimism.

I believe that as we continue through the year, there will be more M&A activity in the metals part of fenestration. How big the deals will be remains to be seen, but we are living in exciting times in the UK window and door industry.

I want to wish all parties involved the best of luck in this new endeavor, and hope it is prosperous for all.
