Caldwell Hardware (UK) Ltd is seeking a proactive and energetic Commercial Manager to join our team in Coventry.

Job purpose

Overall Commercial Management of the supply base incorporating all materials, tooling, equipment and services purchased by Caldwell UK. Provide detailed input into material and investment budget, manage and report progress. Drive cost improvement activity and provide commercial support to supplier management issues. Work with sales to ensure any adverse material effect on margin is mitigated.

Duties and responsibilities

Develop and apply criteria with suppliers to set up SLA’s for all major purchase contracts
Working with suppliers to secure all cost down opportunities
Contract negotiation with suppliers when pricing changes are requested
Strategically looks at our suppliers and looks for opportunities to consolidate the supply chain to benefit from economies of scale
Ensures the company is aware of all commodity price movements throughout the year
Will work with the technical team to ensure the suppliers are capable of supplying the correct specification
When new sales opportunities come into the business, this person will work with supply chain, technical and sales to ensure we have the correct contract in place for tooling and raw materials. In addition, they will look at any minimum raw material quantities that may be involved and ensure these are consumed via the sales quotation.
Looks for opportunities to grow a business, whether through partnerships or new initiatives, and works to take advantage of those opportunities
Maintain and report accurate status of material and investment costs along with assisting in budget preparation and monitoring
Resolves issues with contracts and commercial operations
As appropriate provide the lead/ support in supplier performance management
Communicates with parties in a contract so that all understand the terms, particularly a contract’s financial aspects
