FENEX, the UK fenestration sector’s first virtual exhibition platform, is pleased to announce that GQA Qualifications are to be the headline sponsors of the dedicated recruitment drive at the main event in September.
GQA Qualification will also be partnering with Building Our Skills, the fenestration sector’s primary campaigning organisation, created to turn the tide on the skills gap and promote the fenestration industry to those looking to join the industry for the first time or to change careers.
FENEX announced earlier in the year that the expo will hold the industry’s first recruitment at the September main event in an effort to help the industry find youth and new recruits to plug the skills gap which has become ever more acute during this period of extreme demand.
The recruitment drive, which aims to bring together a coalition of trade bodies, recruitment agencies, training centres and more, is the first of its kind and FENEX welcomes any person or business that wishes to contribute to this effort.
Co-founder of FENEX, Jason Grafton-Holt, said: “GQA Qualifications are quite simply the biggest in the sector when it comes to qualifications and is committed to raising standards across all areas of the industry. They are central to the future of the sector, given their immense network of approved centres and lead the way by some distance in terms of qualifications in the fenestration industry. They are the perfect headline sponsor of our recruitment drive this year and we very much look forward to working with them to hopefully bring some fresh new talent to our booming sector.”
Mick Clayton, CEO of GQA Qualifications, commented: “it’s great to see FENEX being proactive in this area. The fenestration sector has long suffered from a skills shortage, and the bounce-back in business we have seen since last year has made that more acute than ever. The recruitment drive for us was something we naturally wanted to support and it’s fantastic to see FENEX take a leading role on this.”
John Ogilvie, Ambassador for Building Our Skills, said: “it’s great to be working with FENEX on this project. They are more than just pledging support, but putting their words into actions and doing what they can to fill the many gaps our sector has. Building Our Skills will be working hard with FENEX over the coming months to ensure that the recruitment drive in September is as successful as possible.”
GQA Qualification will also be exhibiting at the show and will be on hand to speak to both people and companies who are interested in helping themselves and their businesses by boosting the number of people who are formally qualified in a variety of job roles within the fenestration supply chain.
Recruitment and the skills gap is one of the most pressing issues the fenestration sector has right now and FENEX is determined to do what it can to help turn that tide.
