JOB TITLE: Surveyor
RESPONSIBLE TO: Assistant Branch Manager
HOURS: Full time Mon-Fri 0800-1700 – 42.5 hour week
SALARY : £33,239.00 – £35,455.00 per year

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE: Carry out technical surveys at client’s properties and new build sites, confirming all specifications and details with the client. Taking jobs from point of sale, arranging surveys, liaising with customers, confirming survey requirements, and preparing fit packs to be passed to the installations department. Being a point of contact for clients/builders/architects to offer technical support. Working closely with installation teams offering support and guidance, and problem-solving when needed to help facilitate satisfactory installations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
Tier 2 Competencies
Be proficient in IT systems relevant to surveying.
Be proficient in the use of Sketch Up.
Check suitability of products for all projects, ensuring effective performance and compliance with building regulations.
Carry out on-site inspections during installation activities in line with company procedures.
Investigate and resolve customer complaints in relation to surveying, ensuring a satisfactory outcome.
Assess installations for quality standards to ascertain when installer training may be required.
Support Installers with on-site problem solving as and when needed.
Manage jobs on larger construction sites, planning for resource needs working with fitting schedule colleagues and site teams.
Offer technical support and guidance on all fenestration products to clients and staff.
Advise clients on suitable products, specifications, building regulation requirements and be a point of contact from survey to installation completion.
Obtain clear written consents with clients on all surveying related agreements.
Assess job costings and labour allowances to protect margins pre-survey, sending orders back to the sales person for review when required.
Carry out on-site safety assessments and produce a written plan to ensure safe access, lifting and fitting can be achieved, arranging and co-ordinating specialist equipment when needed.
Build detailed FIT packs including schedules, annotated photos, section drawings, written basic method statements/risk assessments, construction phase plans and any relevant information to enable safe, efficient installations.
Attend Pre-let meetings to finalise orders as and when required.
Display commercial awareness when needed looking for opportunities to increase sales and margins.
Tier 3 Competencies
Detailed knowledge of architectural glass and balustrading systems.
Detailed knowledge of building regulations relevant to fenestration, in particular Doc F, L, O, M.
Detailed knowledge and confident measurer of domestic / industrial / commercial / heritage buildings and all glazing systems.
Assess large / challenging construction sites and produce detailed method statements and risk assessments as and when needed.
Assess installer competency levels offering support and advice to improve and expand skill sets
Line manage installers and carry out annual appraisals following company guidelines.
Support management with disciplinary investigations when needed.
KEY SKILLS
Basic knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Be an excellent communicator who is customer focused and able to build good working relationships with a variety of staff at all levels.
Work well under pressure, with a calm and methodical approach.
Manages time effectively so as to accomplish tasks efficiently.
Remains focused, productive and maintains quality of work when under pressure.
Good knowledge of health and safety in construction.
