Design Engineer – MM3305

Our client, based near Dudley, are the UK’s leading distributor of hardware to the fenestration sector and have an exciting opportunity within their design team for a Design Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for mechanical and architectural designing and developing of new and existing products, ensuring that new products continue to be delivered as part of the company’s Product Development Plan.
The main duties will include but not be restricted to working closely with local technical managers to ensure the design briefs are fully understood, being responsible for managing projects from design concept through to first stock delivery and producing all associated engineering drawings. You will commission rapid prototypes of design proposals and all projects will be managed in line with existing processes, each stage requiring successful completion of product testing and validation.

The successful candidate will have a strong manufacturing background (die casting, pressing, moulding, mechanical assemblies) and a thorough understanding of design for manufacture, combined with a flair for concept design to allow a positive contribution to existing and new product development. Ideally candidates will have fenestration industry knowledge.
It is essential candidates have an HNC/HND qualification in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline with 2+ years industry design related experience.
