Benefits of Timber Windows & Doors

Many people choose to have timber windows & doors installed in their homes, and this choice is made for many reasons.

Firstly, there is nothing that can substitute the ‘real feel’ or look of timber. There are other materials available that replicate it, but none that actually match it. Timber windows & doors that are ‘bespoke’ can also offer limitless design options, with regards to section sizes, moulding details, and endless designs of the windows & doors themselves.

Along with the above, timber can also be painted or stained in an endless amount of colours. Today’s spray applied microporous paint and translucent coatings are available in any RAL, Farrow & Ball or BS numbered solid colour, and by using a different variety of base stains and topcoat stains, hundreds of different variations of translucent coatings each showing off the natural beauty of the timber itself can be achieved. Factory finished spray applied coatings also offer great performance resulting in re-decoration cycles being minimum and infrequent.

With advances in seals and Double Glazed Units, many timber windows are available as ‘A Rated’ for Energy Efficiency, and all modern hardware like shoot bolt and multipoint locking can be incorporated also.

There have also been recent studies performed to show that timber is one of the most environmentally friendly materials to use, although the perception of this has always been different. It has also been reported that timber windows & doors have a longer lifetime cycle than windows & doors using other materials, but this is of course down to maintaining them properly as well.

Also, with advances in technology, timber like the very impressive Accoya offers stability equal to man-made materials, and thermal efficiency and durability better than any other timber.
