FIT Show organisers and Building Our Skills (BOS) have joined together to launch a new campaign designed to get the entire fenestration industry discussing and challenging workplace stereotypes.
The ‘Everyone FITs’ campaign will see the organisations work together to shine a spotlight on the positive case studies throughout the industry that demonstrate how age, gender, ethnicity and physical ability should never be a barrier to success.
The campaign aims to showcase the plethora of career opportunities throughout the industry, as well as dispelling the myths around what makes a ‘perfect fit’ to fulfill certain roles. A large part of the campaign will involve challenging the mindset of employers and encouraging them to be more open minded about the way they recruit.
FIT Show and BOS are appealing to the industry to support its campaign by nominating colleagues, peers, employees and apprentices who are breaking down the boundaries of workplace stereotypes in their roles.
Nominations can be emailed to Millie@fitshow.co.uk or submitted via an #EveryoneFITs shout out via social media, tagging in @FITShow and @BuildingOurSkills. A gallery of the #EveryoneFITs champions will be displayed on the FIT Show website.
FIT Show event director, Nickie West commented: “Whether it’s someone on the tools, in the design studio, on the shop floor, in the back office or pushing their way to the top of the corporate ladder – we want to show that everyone has the potential to be the perfect fit for the fenestration industry.
“A huge part of our campaign is about unearthing the great case studies out there of people breaking those preconceived workplace stereotypes and enticing more employers to step outside of their comfort zone and shake up the way the attract talent to the industry.”
Stephanie Tague, head of Building our Skills, added: “We are working closely with a number of leading organisations to shine a positive spotlight on the fantastic opportunities that a career in fenestration presents. A big part of the wider BOS campaign is to shake up and challenge pre misconceptions about the attributes required for certain roles across the industry.
“Our challenging workplace stereotypes and #EveryoneFITs campaign, in conjunction with FIT Show, is a fantastic way for us to champion the brilliant work that is being done across the industry, regardless of race, colour, creed, sexual orientation, education, age, gender or ability.”
