It’s been a rather dramatic day in world of conservatory roofs! Ultraframe have bought aluminium conservatory roof company Quantal. And it was revealed the earlier on in the day that Synseal have bought the assets of K2. Talk about rapid consolidation of the conservatory roof market!
MD of Ultraframe had this to say about the purchase of Quantal: “Quantal is a strong player in the specialist roof end of the market and has real strength in its customer base with many loyal customers. Quantal customers will now be able to access the market-leading R&D capability of Ultraframe and we will be able to expand our portfolio of systems through new channels.
“These are exciting times and as a business we continue to lead the industry to deliver highly innovative, quality systems to our customers – adding Quantal into the mix only strengthens our position.
“We fully appreciate that the Quantal brand stands for quality products and superior customer service in this market so we intend to position the Quantal brand alongside Ultraframe and not lose any of that brand pedigree. With that in mind, we will continue to drive the Quantal brand forward under the direction of Joe Martoccia, sales and marketing director at Ultraframe.”
Meanwhile, David Leng, CEO of Synseal had this to say about the acquisition of K2: “The trading brands of the Celsius Glass and K2 are well respected and successful. Brand loyalty is something we are keen to maintain and we will continue to invest in them to secure future growth.
This is an important addition to our launch earlier in the year of Global Glass TM and means we can now be highly efficient in the production of both roof and window glass, in turn helping our customers to compete more effectively.
The business will continue to trade with the current sales structure and from the existing site. I am delighted that Sally Fielding will remain with the business to ensure a smooth transition and to help to retain and develop the key brand values”.
Clearly, and as I have already mentioned in posts from a few months ago, there is still room for more consolidation. The conservatory roof sector has just got a whole lot smaller today! Hopefully, these acquisitions will ensure the futures of the company, but one thing I am fairly sure of, is that there probably will be job losses to come.

Typo! Think you’ve copied & pasted the same for both quotes. At least you know I read them.
Anything reg ultra frame expanding is good from our point of view.
The latest news first.Congratulations on another scoop.Keep up the good work.
I have spoke to Quantal about this this morning. From what i was told, the staff at Quantal are very pleased with the sale. We were interested to see if the Epwin Group had been purchased or if it was just Quantal, they have confirmed it is just the Qunatal arm which has been purchased by Ultraframe. Staff are very pleased as Epwin have stalled on further investement and their business was suffering as a result. Ultraframe have been lloking at branching into the Aluminium Conservatory Roof market for a while and they have purchased Quantal as an existing Ali… Read more »
Have I missed something here ? Ultraframe where themselves JV’d (some say acquired) by the Epwin Group a short while ago. Now they appear to have purchased an Epwin Group Company !! Bizarre
Someone help me see this one please…
I suppose it is a sign of the times and mirrors the profile extrusion acquisitions of the last year. Lets hope it brings some stability and innovation to a long overdue conservatory market rather than just money saving measures which will inevitably happen.

Will consolidation of the conservatory roof market lead to higher purchase prices for roofs, my thoughts are that many companies fighting for your business will mean competative prices, fewer companies or indeed the same ammount of companies with just a couple of owners could lead to a cartel on pricing? time will tell
Gary- Ultraframe wasn`t involved in the merger. They are still owned by BK..
Congratulations Synseal,
It is still a mystery how Synseal will not offer K2 Celcius+ glass in their conservatory roofs! :S
Hi we do now do Celcius in global roofs
