Job Position: Technical Service Engineer

Job Description:

JOB PURPOSE
Reporting directly into the Technical Services Manager and to liaise internally with colleagues and externally with customers to ensure good communication flow between individuals and business’s. Be able to communicate credibly with people that have a broad range of competence in the fabrication and installation of our product range.

The role is field based with the Technical Engineer (TE) being responsible for the technical development of the customer in the fabrication and installation of our systems ensuring they are manufactured and installed in line with Company recommendations and legislation, either through industry standards or British Standards. Their primary role is that of a trainer, advisor and trouble-shooter thereby adding value to the customer, providing an invaluable link between Company, customer and AluK’s Sales Managers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
-To represent the company in a professional, enthusiastic and positive manner.
-To provide theoretical / practical fabrication and installation training on Aluk systems at customer premises and/or on site.
-To provide in-house theoretical / practical fabrication and installation training at our headquarters in Chepstow.
-To deliver bespoke theory and practical training.
-Trainer / Assessor / Verifier for NVQ in fabrication and installation of Aluk systems.
-To advise on factory layout for the economic production of Aluk systems at customer premises.
-To be conversant with Aluk’s health and safety requirements.
-To make yourself aware of customer / site health and safety requirements.
-Commissioning and user training for machinery acquired from Aluk.
-Ensure the External Training Attendance form is completed by all trainees and copied to the Technical Training Manager.
-Investigate reported complaints related to Aluk products.
-Generate a Technical Engineers Report after investigations are concluded, sending a copy to the Technical Training Manager and the customer.
-Ensure the Technical Engineers Report log is maintained.
-If a problem is caused by a product issue rather than incorrect fabrication or installation then an Observation Feedback form must be completed and returned to the Technical Training Manager for action.
-Assist with manufacture of prototypes providing feedback of fabrication and installation when required.
-Complete the KPI form (monthly) which summarises activity and send to the Technical Training Manager.
-Assist with test sample production and installation if required.
-Liaise with Area Sales Managers to ensure customer manuals are up to date.
-Liaise with Area Sales Managers in regard to assistance with tooling requirements of new customers.
-Ensure all email communications are logged on to the CRM.
-Maintain diary on Outlook.
-The role may require additional hours to support the customer.
-The role may require overnight stays to fulfil customer requirements.
-Being part of a Global organisation it will, on occasion, be necessary travel abroad for short periods of time. Any trips longer than a few days will be discussed and agreed with the Technical Engineer.
-Provide maintenance to the showrooms in Chepstow, the London Design Studio and the Academy shopfloor area.
-Any other duties which may be required to fulfil company, customer, project requirements.
