Job Description:

Production/ QC Manager

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the company’s factory is run in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Ensuring optimum production level and the highest quality products, in order to retain and grow our customer base.

Key tasks:
• To fully absorb, champion and enact the “Why Tradesmith?” philosophy
• Increase production output
• Introduce robust quality control processes
• Agree production level scheduling with the office
• Attend daily production meeting
• Monitor and control production costs
• Continually review ways of improving the efficiency of the production line by maintaining (introducing?) “Lean” manufacturing processes
• Reduce waste and minimise factory errors
• Responsibility for continuous staff training and development, ensuring rotation of staff in order to create a genuinely multi-skilled team
• Set, monitor and review key performance indicators (KPI’s)
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and wellbeing policies and procedures
• Regular liaison with the team leaders and department managers and attendance at monthly ad hoc management meetings
• Hold one-to-one meetings with the workforce to monitor their individual progress and needs
• To work and liaise with outside contractors such as machine engineers, ISP 9001 consultants and health & safety consultants
Skills & Experience
• Significant production line management experience
• Experience quality management
• Ability to identify and implement continuous improvements, in particular production flow
• Experience of utilising lean, six sigma, 5s methodologies
• Recent health & safety knowledge and experience
• Environmental management, including waste reduction
