A new type of glazing solution co-developed by Morley Glass in conjunction with Guardian Glass and ToughGlaze gives Uni-Blinds® integral blind customers a glass option that is purpose-designed to maintain comfort and energy efficiency in UK homes all year round, with particularly effective protection against overheating during heatwaves.

ClimaGuard® 365 combines the proven benefits of low-emissivity (low-e) glass for superior thermal efficiency with the heat reflectivity of solar control glass to help maximise home comfort in all seasons. Such is its effectiveness at limiting solar gain that the glazing solution helps to keep a room’s temperature up to 9° C cooler than the outside on sunny days, according to an independent study conducted by Group 14 Engineering.
An advanced coating developed by Guardian Glass is applied to the inner face of the glass. This holds the key to its ability to reduce the amount of heat entering a home through the windows and doors by up to 38%. However, ClimaGuard® 365 has a high selectivity, meaning it is equally effective at retaining heat inside properties during winter, as demonstrated by its Ug value for a double-glazed unit of just 1.0 W/m²K.
In addition to this optimum balance of solar reflection and thermal insulation, ClimaGuard® 365 reduces glare to make it easier for anyone inside the room to read and see the TV on bright, sunny days, while maintaining a high level of clarity with 75% visible light transmission in a double-glazed IGU.
ClimaGuard® 365 is available to order now as an upgrade on all Uni-Blinds® integral blinds, including the slimline SL16 system for use in 24mm (4-16-4mm) double glazed units. It is a product that boosts the shading and reflectivity performance offered by the ScreenLine® blinds used in every Uni-Blinds® IGU, further reducing glare and solar gain when the sunlight is at its strongest.
Ian Short, Managing Director of Morley Glass, said: “Solar control glass can no longer be regarded as a niche product or one that you would only use in commercial projects. As our summers get warmer, our homes are overheating, and we need to make sure the windows and doors do not contribute to the problem.
“By default, we need to shift our thinking and recommend to homeowners that the right solar control glazing solution is specified for windows and doors on sunnier aspects – not just for integral blind units, but for standard IGUs too. For domestic properties, ClimaGuard® 365 offers an excellent solution that is right for today’s market because it is designed specifically for the types of windows and doors used in residential properties, such as PVCu and aluminium casements, French doors, bi-folds and sliding doors.” To find out more about ClimaGuard® 365, visit morleyglass.co.uk/climaguard-365.
