Deceuninck has been short-listed in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year category.

The short-listing recognises the work that Deceuninck is doing to lower the environmental impact of its operations, its pioneering development of next-generation products, plus the work it is doing to encourage the industry to do the same.

In addition to the multi-million-pound investment it has made in Europe’s most advanced recycling and compounding facilities, it also includes the commitment made by the systems leader, to the corporate carbon reduction scheme, Science Based Targets (SBTi).

This includes cutting the CO2 emissions from its own operations (Scope 1&2) by 60% by 2030 from a 2021 baseline.

It has also committed to cut emissions from within its supply chain (Scope 3 emissions) by 48% per tonne by 2030, as part of its wider journey to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Rob McGlennon, Managing Director, Deceuninck, said: “We know that our customers working in the commercial and specification sectors are already having to evidence the embodied carbon in the products that they supply but it’s no less important in retail as homeowners seek out sustainable products.

“Sustainability is fast becoming a prerequisite for growth and profitability.

“We’re committed to working with our customers and the wider industry to make sure that we are doing everything we can to lower greenhouse gas emissions and the impact of our operations on the environment.”

Deceuninck’s recycling facility gives it the capacity to reprocess up to 45,000 tonnes of post-consumer and post-manufacturing PVC-U per year. That’s equivalent to stopping more than three million windows from going to landfill annually.

Deceuninck is also pioneering the development of the next generation of products including Elegant. Launched at the end of September it’s been engineered to maximise thermal performance achieving u-values of as low as 0.88W/m2K, while maximising design reach, at the same time as minimising stock-holding.

“There’s a lot happening but still a lot of work to do”, continued Rob. “We are, however, delighted that the progress that we and our customers have made to date, has been recognised in a G-Awards shortlisting, and we look forward to getting together with our customers and our colleagues in the industry in London in November.”

The G-Awards winners will be announced at a special gala dinner at the Intercontinental London Park Lane on 25th November.
