Endurance®, the business behind Endurance® Doors and Endurance® Aluminium, has further strengthened its manufacturing and logistics capabilities.
The company has invested in a new warehouse facility – named Nexus – which will improve operational efficiency and service levels for its nationwide network of installer partners whilst enhancing on-site safety for employees.
The new 11,500 sq. ft. facility at the company’s headquarters in Brigg, Lincolnshire, will provide Endurance® with a dedicated central location for its raw material stockholding, supporting the continued development of the business and creating a more streamlined flow of materials into its production operation.
A key benefit of the new Nexus warehouse will be the consolidation of external supplier deliveries at a single point, significantly reducing vehicle movements across Endurance®’s main production site and helping to create a safer working environment for employees.
The move will also enable the business to introduce a dedicated linefeed team, responsible for transporting materials from the warehouse directly to the production lines in smaller, more frequent loads.
For Endurance® customers, this will translate into an increased FTA rate (first time stock availability), which will allow the business to drive towards an improved delivery OTIF and ultimately provide an enhanced level of service.
Commenting on the new facility, Chris Walton, Group Purchasing Manager at Endurance® said: “Taking on the new Nexus warehouse is about much more than simply adding additional space. It gives us the opportunity to rethink the way materials move through our operation and create a more efficient, controlled process from goods arriving on site right through to production.
“Bringing our raw material stockholding together under one roof will give us much greater visibility and control over stock, while the new linefeed team will ensure that our production team has the materials it needs, when it needs them.
“Ultimately, all of these improvements are focused on the same goal – creating a more efficient operation that enables us to deliver an even better and more reliable service to our installer partners.”
The new approach will reduce the amount of stock held within the existing production facility and support a smoother flow of work in progress through the factory. Greater stock accuracy will additionally allow the business to operate with leaner overall stock levels, releasing capital that can be reinvested into further improvement projects across the business.
Concluding, Chris said: “This is an important investment in the infrastructure behind Endurance® Doors and Endurance® Aluminium. While our installer partners may not necessarily see the changes taking place behind the scenes, they will see the benefits through greater efficiency, availability and delivery performance. It’s another progressive step in ensuring that we are equipped to support our customers in the best way possible.”
