We are living in ‘Green’ times, so we are reminded on a daily basis. Our industry in particular relies heavily on earth’s resources when it comes to production and transport. So, being the responsible manufacturer that John Fredericks is, they have a whole raft of environmentally friendly policies to make sure that they limit their carbon foot print as much as possible.

As John Fredericks quite rightly points out on it’s environmental page on their brand new website: http://www.johnfredericks.co.uk/environment – it is right that businesses take a firm stance on the environment and provide an example to everyone else and the general public.

John Fredericks have a long list of items that they recycle:

  • Glass
  • Old PVC-u Windows / PVC-u off-cuts
  • Steel/Aluminium
  • Paper / Cardboard
  • Polythene
  • Electrical Items
  • Fluorescent Tubes
  • Plus responsible disposal of non-recyclable waste, via registered contractors.

What is good to see from that list is rather than just focusing on recycling the main raw material waste from their production facilities, they’re recycling materials from the rest of the site, from their offices and other working areas. Anything they can’t do themselves they then get special contractors in to take care of that. This means very little skip space is being used, which as we all know they aren’t cheap any more! Less skips means less landfill and less landfill tax! It’s saving Fredericks quite a hansom amount of money in the long run!

John Fredericks is part of the A & B Group, which itself has one of the best environmental policies in the UK. It’s so good in fact, that they are one of the first fabricators to have been awarded the international standard for Environmental Management (ISO14001).

It’s not just down to the manufacturers to have an air of environmental responsibility. It is down to installations companies as well to make sure that as well as implementing their own green measures in their own business, they also choose a fabricator that is also keen to help reduce waste and have the smallest impact on the environment too.
