Check this out:
Seen it? Yes, that’s right, that is a credit card with a LCD touch screen on it! How friggin’ cool is that?!
These new cards, the fruits of a partnership between Master Card and Standard Chartered, are available in Singapore and will be launched globally in January 2013. I’m annoyed, I’m with NatWest. I may consider changing banks so I can get my hands on this bad boy!
The whole reason why these card exist is because S & C say that this is a more secure option. This is why they think this is a good idea:
“We brainstormed on ways to make it convenient and yet secure for customers,” said V Subba from Standard Chartered Bank, which is collaborating with Mastercard.
“The question was: instead of sending customers another bulky token, could we replace something which already exists in the customer’s wallet? That was when credit, debit and ATM cards immediately came to mind.”
Once developed, the card could be adapted to display transaction history, points and rewards and other such things.
Wonder how long it will be before people stop using cash altogether!
Its surprising the amount of people
who want to pay cash and cut out the taxman!
Not just the general public but builders and the like.
I wonder what these cost to make and what impact that will have on interest rates!
Just what I was thinking lol! Cool though!
