The bad news on the Green Deal front keeps stacking up!
It was only a couple of weeks ago that it was reported the Green Deal has devastated the cavity wall industry. Now the BBC is reporting that less than 200 properties have actually signed up for Green Deal work. Bear in mind that there have been over 19,000 Green Deal assessments made, that is take up of just over 1%. I think this is about as embarrassing as it gets now when it comes to figures.
The scheme has been ‘live’ since January of this year and has faced much struggle and criticism just to make it to this point. This is despite the Government ignoring the warnings and research done years previously that this would not work, they went ahead and sunk hundreds of millions of pounds of tax payers money into this scheme.
Expanding on the previous story on the cavity wall industry, their bodies are reporting that a massive 5000 jobs have already been lost because of the Green Deal. Surely something so damaging, so costly and such a spectacular failure has to be scrapped NOW before any more permanent damage is done?
This government have been told time and time again that their austerity plans are not working.
They have also been told the Green Deal is not working.
They refuse to change direction on either.
But they are getting a 20k pay rise.
Maybe they are having fiddle lessons while England burns.
It really doesn’t surprise me; it seems like the deal just hasn’t been thought through. Maybe the government should just invent a perpetual motion device!
