In a post on the glassglobal Group Linkedin page it is being reported that Glasstec is to suspend submissions to their exhibition due to be held in 2021.

This is what is being reported:

Glasstec has suspended admissions for the trade fair due to take place in Dusseldorf, Germany between 15th-18th June 2021.
With the lockdown in Germany having been extended until 7th March 2021, Messe Dusseldorf, which organise the event have decided to suspend admissions for the moment.

In a statement, Messe Dusseldorf said it is currently in discussions with industry partners concerning the staging of the show in June.
It said it would inform participants and visitors regarding the feasibility of glasstec by mid-March 2021.

It added that by suspending admissions until mid-March it is ‘acting in the interests of all concerned exhibitors and, in this way, we can continue building the basis for further cooperation in a spirit of trust’.

This is yet another sign that the pandemic is going to cause significant disruption during the course of the year. With social distancing measures and other restrictions likely to be in place, it makes for a very difficult environment to hold any sort of physical event. Although there has been no final decision taken by Glasstec, it would not be a surprise to see it postponed to a later date, perhaps in 2022, when hopefully a successful vaccination programme will allow for a better atmosphere to hold exhibitions.
