One of the big outstanding questions following Ultraframe’s acquisition of Prefix Systems last week is what would happen to the customers who had purchased Sheerline products through Prefix.
As many of you know, Prefix made a very public switch to Sheerline products after moving away from Ultraframe. However, with the market being as tough as it is, that transition hasn’t lasted long and Ultraframe has since swept up their former fabricator, which in itself raises it’s own questions.
Yesterday, Sheerline emailed an update to their database explaining their next steps:
Following long time roof business Prefix going into administration at the start of the year, and its subsequent purchase by Ultraframe, we have decided to supply directly to their customers so as not to jeopardise their existing installation plans or commitments.
We will continue to supply directly in order to give customers peace of mind and an uninterrupted supply of the award-winning S1 roof lantern direct from the manufacturer. It also gives customers easy access to options such as our unique SheerVent – bringing opening vents into the 21st century at last, eliminating muntin bars and with full automation options.
• 10 Day delivery on S1 lantern kits. Glazed or unglazed
• 15 Day delivery on orders including SheerVent (only supplied glazed)
• Quick account set-up with Credit Card payment option
Sheerline will now switch to a direct supply model for all existing Prefix customers. Whether this is just a temporary measure or if this is a longer-term solution time will tell. If it goes will Sheerline may wish to utilise the direct-to-trade model on a wider basis.
