A quick message from myself wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

This is personally my favourite time of year. Time away from work, hard earned throughout the year. Spending quality time with family and friends. We also moved into our first home on Decembers 1st four years ago, so it naturally reminds us of good memories. The gifts are cool, and we appreciate what we get. But it’s the time spent with others and some time to ourselves which we appreciate the most.

For me, and I hope others, this is the time of year where we can refocus our minds and take perspective on the year. Why do we work? To earn a living of course, and it’s absolutely fine to love what you do. But it’s that time at home, with people, with family and friends, that is the most important thing of all. Work to live, not live to work.

It’s also a time to spare a thought and some time for those who aren’t so lucky in life. I know that this is a message widely remarked at this time of year, but it really is vital. Whilst you’re sat there reading this, consider losing everything you have around you. Your family, your home, your safety, your health. The world becomes a very different place, and during this time of year, where everyone gets together to enjoy the best bits of life, that world will feel decidedly lonely. So whether it’s seeing a family member who might be lonely, buying a cup of hot tea for someone who really needs it, donating to charity, or even cooking a quality meal for someone who doesn’t always get access to one, it’s an act that could brighten up someone’s day at this festive period.

By now I’m sure you’re all a bit sick of food. Eating everything in sight because it seems the right thing to do. Drinking more in these few days than many of you will drink throughout the year. Struggling to remember what day of the week it is. Not sure why that happens, between Christmas Even and New Years Day I have no idea what day of the week it is! Bet you’re all feeling a bit lethargic. Me too. Could be a good time to get the walking boots out and walk off a few of the pigs in blankets and mince pies.

There shall be no talk of work on this post, I can leave that for a few more days at least. But I will say that there are a few cool things in the pipeline for DGB in 2018 that I shall explain in the next few posts to come.

For now, I want to wish every one of you a very Merry Christmas, a happy and prosperous New Year and thank you very much for all your support during 2017!
