There have been a high number of fenestration companies that have been placed in insolvency measures in the past few weeks. It had certainly been a very difficult end to the previous year and start to 2020.

Of those that have gone, two that stick out for me are Cambrian Windows Ltd and Premier Trade Frames Ltd. Although these companies are due to be closed, a deeper look at their accounts show that both have been dormant for at least a year.

You can find their winding-up notices on The Gazette here.

“The company has not traded”

When you look at the last set of accounts posted for each company on Companies House, it makes clear that neither company has traded in the past year:

You can find the accounts for Cambrian here, and here for Premier Trade Frames.

Both businesses were owned previously by Masco Corp in the US, which we know sold the group back to the UK in what is now known as The UK Window Group.

I suspect this more tidying up of the group more than anything else. Although I was told on a comment thread this morning that one of my connections was in touch with Premier Trade Frames this morning.

Nevertheless, these two names add to a growing list of fenestration companies that are being closed or placed into administration. 2019 was a tough year for the sector, with major political uncertainty being one of the biggest drags on business activity and investment.

However, with clarity following the December election, many are hoping that this clears the way for a much more optimistic and positive trading environment, at least domestically.
