If any of you follow the shouty man from Safestyle on Twitter and his blog, you’ll know that he’s been running a competition for people to submit their own ‘better’ versions of that annoying TV ad that has plagued us for over the last decade! Well, he picked a winner the other day. It’s quite good. Unfortunately, they just went with a slightly more updated, crappy advert. They should have gone with this:
Never mind! They’ll learn next time! Or not…
I understand your point, the Safestyle ad runs extruciatingly neck and neck with thevGo Compare ad and the sound of finger nails running down a blackboard. Nevertheless both ads have incredibly high recognition and do the job. I will concede however that in my view the Safestyle ad does nothing for their brand or the positioning of the entire double gazing industry, but they are amazingly successful, so what do I know? Great publicity in running a new ad competition though, even if they failed to improve on the winning entry.
Ha! Very good! I still maintain that their adds do grab your attention but the branding makes them seem unprofessional. If I were to have my windows done by a national firm on TV it wouldn’t be Safestyle simply on the back of this advert!
